New Orleans High School Student Dennis Barnes Sets World Record with $9M in Scholarships from 125 Schools

A college-bound high school senior from New Orleans has shattered the record for the most scholarships received.

Dennis Barnes, a student at the International High School of New Orleans, is basking in his achievement after securing acceptance from 125 colleges and universities, along with amassing over $9 million in scholarships.

Surpassing the previous record holder, also from Louisiana, Barnes’ feat exceeds the $8.7 million garnered by a senior from Lafayette in 2019, as recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. The school is currently collaborating with Guinness officials to validate this extraordinary accomplishment.

“The road to a successful future is to plan ahead, network with the collegiate partners, and know that If you can see your vision, you can achieve your goal.”
