Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison after being found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy but will still pay a $500,000 fine and serve five years of supervised release once his prison term ends. The judge credited him with about 12 months already served in custody.
In court, Diddy broke down and told the judge, “I am humbled and broken to my core… The old me died in jail.” His defense lawyers had pushed for only 14 months while prosecutors asked for more than 11 years. In the end, the judge chose a middle ground with just over four years behind bars.
Even with this sentence, Diddy’s legal troubles are far from over. He is still facing nearly 70 civil lawsuits that include accusations of sexual assault, abuse, and violence. That means more court battles are still to come, keeping the spotlight firmly on one of hip-hop’s most powerful figures.
This sentencing marks a dramatic fall for a man once celebrated at the top of the music industry and sends a clear message that accountability can reach even the biggest stars.
