Police officers in Indiana are speaking out against a new law that gives citizens the right to use deadly force to protect themselves against a public servant who oversteps his authority. Tim Downs, president of the Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police, says the law (signed in March by Gov. What exactly does the law say?
It authorizes people to Protect Themselves or their property by using deadly force in response to “unlawful intrusion” by a “public servant.” The measure is essentially just a public-servant-specific amendment to the state’s 2006 so-called Castle Doctrine bill, which allows people to do whatever they have to to stop someone from illegally entering a home or car. Indiana is reportedly the first state to specifically allow the use of force against police. The new rule was passed with a nudge from the National Rifle Association, which has pushed permissive gun laws around the country.
This concerns a 2015 law, which, essentially, is an amendment to the 2006 law. For some, bizarre, reason, the “news” of such has been making the rounds for a year or so, now, begging the question: Is there not enough real news that the media has to dredge up something that hardly anyone has reason to fear (i.e., 99.9999% of cops do not enter homes without a warrant or reasonable suspicion, as they are allowed to do).
Of course law enforcement enters homes in black communities without warrants.. I’ve seen it a few times actually. Time to stop the false praise of regular people with jobs as a law enforcement. They are not worthy of the fake honor that a lot of dummies give them . The origin of police date directly back to slavery. The police force needs to be defunded and demolished and replaced with something fairer and effective.
