Son of Federal Judge executed, Husband Shot In Their Home Days After She Takes On Jeff Epstein-Related Case

A gunman shot and killed federal judge Esther Salas’ son at her New Jersey home on Sunday, the state’s chief district judge told the Associated Press (AP). 

Chief District Judge Freda Wolfson told the AP that the shooting occurred in the family’s North Brunswick home. Salas’ 20-year-old son, Daniel Anderl, died in the shooting, and her husband, criminal defense lawyer Mark Anderl, was injured.

According to multiple reports, Salas was not injured in the shooting. 

Daniel, a popular student-athlete in high school, was a rising junior at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., My Central Jersey reported. 

“He was brilliant and probably one of the smartest kids I ever met,” Tom Hennessy, Daniel’s high school pitching coach, told the publication. “I loved the kid. He was on his way.”
