
Canzetta Maria “Candi” Staton is an American singer-songwriter, best known in the United States for her 1970 remake of Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” and her 1976 disco chart-topper “Young Hearts Run Free”
And she has just celebrated her 80th birthday after experiencing a cancer scare 2 years ago.
She shared
“This milestone is so special to me, 18 months ago I had cancer I didn’t know if I would even be here to see this day but God, He kept me and he healed my body so I give him all the glory and praise. Thank all of you who prayed and encouraged me to to be strong and don’t give up and I’m here today enjoying my family and my friends thank you I love all of you so so much and I thank you for hanging in there with me and refused to let me give up. I’ll never forget you for that God bless you I’m cancer-free today that’s the best birthday present I could ever hope to get l love you all”
