Lorna M. Matlock, The First United States Marine Corps Female Black General

Lorna M. Mahlock is the first Black woman to be nominated as a Brigadier general(one star) in the United States Marine Corps, which occurred in 2018. BGen Mahlock is the Director, Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) and the Deputy Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Marine Corps. Previously, she served as the Deputy Director of Operations, Plans, Policies, and Operation Directorate at Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.
