In California, a father recently bestowed upon his 13-year-old son 40 acres of land as a birthday gift.
Faheem Muhammad, 35, from Los Angeles, described the land, situated in Boulevard, California, near the U.S.-Mexico border, as a significant milestone for his teenage son, Faheem Ra’id Muhammad.
Reflecting on the historical context, Muhammad remarked, “After slavery, it was promised that we would receive 40 acres and a mule.” He referenced Union General William T. Sherman’s Special Field Order No. 15, issued towards the end of the Civil War in January 1865, intended for newly liberated slaves, but never materialized. “Rather than lamenting unfulfilled promises, we take action to achieve our aspirations,” Muhammad added.
Muhammad aimed to instill the values of self-sufficiency in his son, whose birthday fell on March 16, emphasizing the significance of land ownership. Forbes recognizes real estate investment as one of the top five methods to establish generational wealth in America.
