Retired WNBA player, Lisa Camille Willis became the first woman to every become an assistant coach for the Westchester Knicks – a G League team franchise of the NBA’s New York Knicks.
She’s definitely a winner and will be an incredible addition to the Westchester Knicks franchise. Let’s talk about her impressive career in the basketball. She had a basketball scholarship to UCLA, became a all-time 3-point shooter and leader in steals in college.
She went on to win PAC12 Defensive Player of the Year, PAC12 Tournament MVP and even a gold medal as a member on the USA women’s basketball team. She was the 5th overall pick in the WNBA draft in 2006 and even became a 3-point leader for the Los Angeles Sparks, New York Liberty and the Sacramento Monarchs.
Unfortunately, her career ended after she tore 3 of the 4 ligaments in her knee in 2019. She says the biggest leadership skill she’s gained from being an elite athlete is resilience; so she always talks about it.
Her career as a NBA coach has just begun!
